Thermogenic Fat Burners – supplements to help burn away fat.

Thermogenic fat burning supplements are designed to increase your body’s temperature, thereby encouraging it to burn more fat for energy, and promote weight loss. Some of these supplements contain ingredients that have stimulant properties to help boost the metabolism, although it’s important to note that not all fat-burning compounds are stimulants. Some of the stimulants used are:

  • Zingerone – a ginger extract that may reduce fat absorption from the small intestine.
  • Chilli extracts such as capsaicin or cayenne – the ‘heat’ properties of these extracts appear to raise metabolic rate, and may also have a blood sugar moderating effect.
  • Green coffee bean extract – this extract may help reduce body fat levels, possibly due to the presence of chlorogenic acid and caffeine.
  • Green tea extract – which contains a compound known as EGCG, which may reduce fat absorption when combined with caffeine.
  • Guarana – this extract may improve energy, reduce fatigue and have an appetite-suppression effect.
  • Acacia Rigdula – this contains amines and alkaloids that may help to burn fat more efficiently.
  • Raspberry ketones – a fruit extract that may increase metabolism.

 

Some stimulants may cause irritation or anxiety in some people. Non-stimulant fat burners include compounds designed to promote weight-loss without the stimulant effect, such as sesamin and essential fatty acids.

Fat burners are designed to be used in conjunction with a reduced calorie diet and regular exercise. They are not a quick fix pill, so much as an extra tool or aid in the quest for fitness and leanness, and should be used according to directions at all times.
